From 16 December 2023 to 7 January 2024, the Art Academy of Latvia (13 Kalpaka Boulevard, Riga) will host the annual major exhibition of student works "JAUNmarka", whose motto this year is: find your art! This will be an opportunity to appreciate the students' creative work, meet the works' authors on display, and buy artworks.
"JAUNmarka provides career support and promotion for young artists every year and for art lovers to be among the first to discover new talents and trends in art and design. The organisers of "JAUNmarka" will take care of them too, who are just starting to explore art, by providing advice on which perspectives to take, how to look at and find your own art.
The tradition of a major exhibition of student work began twenty years ago - the annual Christmas period, when the doors of the LMA are opened to a wider range of visitors, to go on an art hunt in the picturesque Art Academy Hall. Combining students from all the Academy's departments, "JAUNmarka" brings together more than 4,000 works of art of different shapes, materials, sizes and textures.
"Continuing the annual JAUNmarka tradition, visitors are invited to visit the Art Academy of Latvia during the pre-holiday period. The historic auditorium will host over 5,000 works by around 300 of the Academy's students - future professional artists. JAUNmarka is the only art exhibition of this scale in Latvia, distinguished both by the number of original artworks and the broad spectrum, as all departments of the Art Academy of Latvia are represented," - Agnese Apine, Chairperson of the Student Council of the Art Academy of Latvia.
