LV/ Utopijas ideja un tās variācijas ir mākslā un kultūrā bieži apspriests, atveidots temats jeb platforma, kas izmantota jaunu potenciālo pasaules struktūru veidošanai. Vieta, kas neeksistē, labklājības vieta, tiekšanās uz labāku nākotni, vieta, kurā pastāv ideāls sabiedrības un sadzīves modelis. Skatupunktiem, no kuriem iespējams aplūkot utopijas konceptu, nav robežu un tie var būt gan atzinīgi, gan analītiski vērtējoši, gan kritiski. Utopija šādi ir subjektīva pasaules uztvere, kas eksistē ārpus ierastās laika un telpas dimensijas – tā var vienlaikus būt absolūti reāla, sociālo un politisko ietekmes sfēru skarta, cik indivīda iztēlota un pārejoša fantāzija. Arī teorijā un praksē šī ir bieži aplūkota ideja, kas nereti kontekstualizē potenciālos sabiedrības modeļus - piemēri, kuros utopija kļuvusi par cēloni vai virstēmu kultūras pētījumiem un vizuālās mākslas izstādēm, ir nebeidzami daudz. Tomēr tēma aizvien ir neizsmelta un pateicīga dažādiem kontekstiem, pavisam iespējams tādēļ, ka utopiju pēc būtības ir neiespējami konkretizēt vai pakļaut ilgtermiņa plānojumam.
Lai arī cik atšķirīgi būtu viedokļi par utopijas jēgu un pat tās faktisko atrašanās vietu (laikā un telpā) vai vizuālo atspoguļojumu, visbiežāk šī tēma skatīta saistībā ar nākotni un jau minēto tiekšanos pēc pilnības – jebkurā šī vārda izpratnē. Pēdējā gada laikā pieredzētās straujās izmaiņas sociālajās struktūrās, ko ietekmējusi gan lokāla un pasaules mēroga politiskā pārvalde, jauns sociālā aktīvisma vilnis un ievainotā epidemioloģiskā situācija, ir likušas pārdomāt izpratni par laiku un to, kā cilvēka vēlmju (iedomu) skala atsaucas uz realitāti.

ENG/ The idea of utopia and its variations is a topic or platform often discussed and represented in art and culture, applied to creating new potential world structures. A place that does not exist, a place of prosperity, a striving for a better future, a place where there is an ideal model of society and everyday life. The perspectives from which the concept of utopia can be viewed have no boundaries and can be positive, as well as analytical or critical. Utopia is thus a subjective perception of the world that exists outside the usual dimension of time and space - it can at once be real, affected by the spheres of social and political authority, or an imagined and transient fantasy made up by an individual. This is a common idea explored in theory and practice that often contextualises potential models of society - there are endless examples where utopia has become a cause or overture to cultural research and visual art exhibitions. However, the topic is still inexhaustible and open to different contexts, probably because it is inherently impossible to concretise the utopia or subject it to long-term planning.
Regardless of differing opinions about the meaning of utopia and even its actual location (in time and space) or visual representation, this topic is most often viewed in the context of the future and in relation to the pursuit of perfection - in any sense of the word. In recent years, the rapid changes in social structures, influenced by local and global political governance, a new wave of social activism, and the vulnerable epidemiological situation, have led to a rethinking of time and how the scale of human desires (imagination) responds to reality.
