LV: Zane Žeivate "Tik ilgi, cik gribi" &  Luciana Mariano "Tējas laiks"

„Rakstot dzeju, ļauju sabrukt saviem mūriem. Esot procesā, nostiprinu uzticību savām sajūtām. Strādājot ar metālu un audumu, un izšūtu tekstu, meklēju mūsdienu urbānas sabiedrības vietu, kur jūtas un racionalitāte piedalās nebeidzošā varas spēlē. Pētu robežas starp cilvēka radīto vidi un cilvēka jūtām, kas tādās struktūrās kā pilsētas tiek uzskatītas par vājībām. Apvienojot rokdarbu un amatniecības prasmes ar autobiogrāfiskām metodēm, ir veids, kā izveidot paliekošus pierādījumus par sociālpolitiskām problēmsituācijām. Caur skulptūrām un tekstu es atklāju savu kā sievietes pieredzi plašākā šī brīža kontekstā, meklējot un apšaubot dzimumu varas struktūru modeļus demokrātijā. Mani interesē divvirzienu attiecības starp cilvēka radīto vidi un cilvēka uztveri, lai apgāztu dzimumu stereotipu nosacījumus. Es mēģinu atrast un izcelt jaunas asociācijas ar jau esošajām pilsētas struktūrām - šādā veidā, spēlējoties ar cilvēka uztveri, mainot to, kā mēs objektivizējam būvēto vidi ap mums. Savā praksē izmantoju telpiskus kontekstus un pārvēršu tos metaforās, kas runā par sociālajām vērtībām - sieviešu emancipāciju, vienlīdzību un ķermeņa autonomiju. Apzināti izvēlos atpazīstamas, funkcionālas metāla detaļas no pilsētas ainavām un mēģinu tās mainīt un dekonstruēt, veidojot jaunas formas, lai tajās meklētu mazāk hierarhiskus attiecību modeļus starp dzimumiem,” Zane Žeivate, 2023.

Ar VKKF atbalstu Zanes Žeivates pirmās trīs skulptūras no sērijas “Struktūru dienasgrāmata” 2022. gadā tika izstādītas solo ekspozīcijā Tbilisi, Gruzijā – starptautiskā mākslas mesē TAF un starptautiskā mākslas mesē ART VILNIUS, Viļņā, Lietuvā. Māksla XO galerijā būs skatāma pirmā apjomīgā mākslinieces personālizstāde, kas aptvers vairākas skulptūras jauktā tehnikā un rakstītu tekstu.

Luciana Mariano ir itāļu un portugāļu izcelsmes brazīliešu gleznotāja, naivisma pārstāve trešajā paaudzē. Pēdējo 14 gadu laikā piedalījusies naivisma mākslai veltītās izstādēs un projektos galerijās un muzejos visā pasaulē.

Luciana Mariano ir autsaidere, laikmetīga naiviste, kurai raksturīgs daudzkrāsains, košs stāstījums. Kaut arī tai piemīt bērnišķīgums un smalkums, viņas daiļrade nav brīva no nemierīgas provokācijas. Tā iekļauj viņas sievišķo Visumu, mazus noslēpumus intriģējošos elementos. Vienmēr ir kaut kas ko stāstīt, novērot un apspriest: reizēm gleznu apdzīvo apaļīgi kaķi un trokšņaini tēli, citreiz tā ir gluži vienkārši klusa vai neapdzīvota, ko akcentē diskrēti priekšmeti un simboli, kas atklāj mākslinieces iekšējo pasauli un aicina skatītāju dalīties savos brīnumos, pārdomās un stāstos.

“When I write poetry, I let my walls crumble. Being in the process, I strengthen my trust in my feelings. Working with metal, fabric, and embroidered text, I search for a place in modern urban society where emotions and rationality participate in an endless power game. I explore the boundaries between the human-made environment and human feelings, which are seen as weaknesses in structures such as cities. Combining needlework and craft skills with autobiographical methods is a way to create lasting evidence of socio-political problem situations. Through sculptures and text, I reveal my experience as a woman in the larger context of the moment, searching for and questioning the patterns of gendered power structures in democracy. I am interested in the two-way relationship between the human-made environment and human perception to overturn the conditioning of gender stereotypes. I find and highlight new associations with existing urban structures - in this way, playing with human perception and changing how we objectify the built environment around us. In my practice, I use spatial contexts and turn them into metaphors that speak about social values - women's emancipation, equality and body autonomy. I deliberately choose recognizable, functional metal parts from urban landscapes and try to change and deconstruct them, creating new forms to search for less hierarchical models of gender relations.” Zane Žeivate, 2023

With the support of the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF), the three sculptures by Zane Žeivate from the series “Diary of Structures” were exhibited in 2022 at a solo exposition in Tbilisi, Georgia - at the International Art Fair TAF and the International Art Fair ART VILNIUS in Vilnius, Lithuania. The solo exhibition at Maksla XO Gallery will be the first large-scale solo exhibition of the artist, which will include several sculptures in mixed media and written text.

“Being born and raised in South America, I had two choices: comply or rebel. I am definitely a rebel. For too long, I have observed women around the world being abused. Through my art, even as a very subjective, modest contribution, I try to touch subjects like gender, race, social equality, justice, freedom, choice, empathy, and human rights. Artists can’t fix the world… but we can paint it. Everything that happens around me; things I see, hear, feel, become raw material from which my work grows” - Luciana Mariano, 2022.

Luciana Mariano is a Brazilian painter, the third generation of naïve artists in her Italian-Portuguese family. For the last 14 years, she has participated in international museum and gallery exhibitions and projects dedicated to naïve art.

She is an outsider, a contemporary naïve with colourful narratives. Although composed with a childish and delicate trait, her art is not free from restlessness provocation. It encompasses the feminine universe, small secrets in intriguing elements. There is always something to be told, observed, and questioned; sometimes, the scene is populated by chubby cats and noisy characters; other times, it is just silent or empty, supported by hidden objects and symbols that unveil the artist’s soul and invite the viewer into their wonderings, ponderings and stories.
