The news about the demise of painting is intrusive and at the same time greatly exaggerated, as evidenced by the fact that every year there are new artists who choose to learn this genre. The SEB Banka Scholarship helps students of the Latvian Academy of Arts to continue the age-old tradition.
This year, five of the 20 participants who applied for the scholarship competition have been nominated for the finals: Santa Paula, Jūlija Šilova, Atis Izands, Alice Builevica and Marta Griģe. Although the only common denominator that can be honestly given to the works of these five artists is probably "diversity", they all depict in their own way the most significant energy flows of their time, both in terms of subject matter and artistic form and media.
